New Year, Same Me

How many times do you get to start over? Infinitely.

2020.

The year I start saying “NO”. For too long I have been so focused on the wrong things and overworking myself. This year I’m taking a step back and figuring out truly where I want to go in life. I’ve tried so many times to start a blog, and honestly I have failed every time. I hope this time is different, and that I am consistently able to create interesting and read-worthy content. As an MBA student in Economics we learn about scarcity of resources and the value of time as a resource. Well I hope to make good use of your time on this blog, my little sanctuary that I want to build out for myself and for you, my dear readers. Let us let go of all of the abandoned books and forgotten challenges and start fresh this new year.

Yearly Reading Goal

This year my goal is to read 30 books. I’m hoping to pass this goal, since I usually count my textbooks in my reading, however I haven’t hit my goal in two years, so I would like to keep it reasonable and attainable.

Yearly Writing Goal

I haven’t been writing much lately, and I’d love to write more poetry and eventually a novel. My first steps this year is to write as much poetry as I am inspired to, and create a plan/prep for my novel. I have joined NaNoWriMo, and I am anxious to start their Prep Course.

Other Goals

Serial Finisher Challenge – I would like to finish series that I have started that are complete series. For example I finished Nightblood by Elly Blake which was the final book to a completed series. However, I don’t want to finish series that I have given less than 3 stars to the previous books. I don’t want to feel forced to finish series I don’t enjoy.

Gaelic in 2020 – This is the year I am finally going to take learning Gaelic seriously. I attended a free online course this month, and I am signing up for an introductory course. Imagine how cool it would be to write poetry in Gaelic?

Down the TBR Rabbit Hole – Culling my TBR is always something I want to do, as there are always too many books on there. I will be continuing this practice once a week.

What challenges are you doing this year? Did you raise or lower your reading goal?
